ROSCLAR Team Interview | Alba López and Rubén Nieto, SS Managers

ROSCLAR Team Interview Alba López and Rubén Nieto SS Managers

“Rosclar is made by all of us, everyone who is part of it, because we are a real team”

Alba López and Rubén Nieto are SS Managers in Rosclar’s Social Security department, a team of eight people. Between them, they have more than 20 years at the company. We spoke to them about their day-to-day work, the challenges of their profession and what they value most about working at Rosclar.

1. When and how did you start working at Rosclar?

A: I have been at Rosclar since November 2013. I used to work with someone who knew people at Rosclar, and he told me they were looking for someone with my profile, hoping I could suggest a candidate, as at that time I wasn’t actively looking for a job. In the end I decided to do the interview myself and everything fell into place quickly; 13 years later, here we still are!

R: I started in February 2016. I had known our colleague David Rodríguez for many years, and at that time there was a vacancy in the Social Security department that he believed was a perfect

2. What does being an “SS Manager” involve? What is your area of expertise?

R: There are currently 8 of us in Social Security. Being the team’s SS Manager is a big responsibility, both internally and externally. Internally, because we need the payroll specialists to trust our work so that we can speed up their procedures; and externally, because ultimately we are accountable to our clients and their employees, and any mistake can have consequences for any worker.

For me, being successful as a manager means always maintaining an optimal level of quality in my team’s work (including my own) while also achieving a good working atmosphere.

My area of expertise is the Social Security contributions that both the company and the employee pay to the authorities every month. From there, everything related to them: procedures, debts, changes, corrections, etc.

A: Being an SS Manager means being responsible for the smooth running of the Social Security department, both internally, supporting the rest of the team in their day-to-day work and with their questions, and providing support with the procedures that depend on us; and externally, with Rosclar’s other departments, mainly production, making sure that communication and work flow between departments and that they can rely on us for the more administrative side.

Outside my SS Manager role, my area of expertise is registering companies with the TGSS (the Spanish Social Security General Treasury) and everything related to retirement, self-employed workers and domestic employees/employers.

3. What is a typical day like for you at Rosclar?

A: Although our work may seem monotonous at first, it isn’t at all; personally, in my case, days can be very different from one another. Sometimes I might spend a few days on a more individual task, such as a retirement study/projection directly with a client, and another week I might have to register a new company with the TGSS and carry out a transfer of 200 employees in record time, which can mean a few more stressful days than before.

That’s why days can vary a lot, although it’s true that the internal running of the department is the same every day: we communicate a lot with each other and we are constantly aware of what the rest of the team is doing and of any questions that may arise.

R: We have all kinds of days. Days when everything runs smoothly, everything is normal and as expected. But we also have lots of days that are a complete surprise. We handle a large number of clients, which means that queries, questions and new situations come up practically every day. We are lucky to be able to share these situations with our teammates and find the answer together, or the solution to the case.

As we also work a lot to filing deadlines with the authorities, some days are more stressful than others.

4. What are the biggest challenges in your profession? Is there a success story you would like to share?

A: Without a doubt, our biggest challenge is keeping up to date with current legislation. In recent years it has been changing a lot, and it takes a great deal of dedication on our part to make sure we anticipate these changes and are able to update not only our knowledge, but also the tools and protocols we use in our day-to-day work.

R: A truly complex and recurring challenge is continuously adapting to constant legislative changes. We live in times when there are changes and new developments every other day in thousands of topics related to our work, and adapting them to our day-to-day requires a lot of work behind the scenes. Fortunately, we have several departments at Rosclar, and together we make it as easy as possible within the complexity that all this involves.

Another daily challenge, this one related to my role, is balancing all the tasks assigned to me with the responsibility of leading a team and everything that involves: answering any questions they may have, issues, personal requests, holidays and a thousand other situations.

5. What are the latest trends in your field? Will you be incorporating them at Rosclar?

R: As I mentioned earlier, the trend in our work is to go into ever greater detail. Employment legislation is becoming increasingly demanding in terms of data transparency and how that data is communicated to employees. All procedures with the authorities are becoming more complex, require more information, and everything must be perfectly aligned with their requirements. Of course, we are applying all of this at Rosclar. We are automating everything we can to optimise processing times.

A: The latest trends that may affect my area most are the recent changes to the contribution system for self- employed workers; I would say this is one of the most significant shifts I have experienced. Like any big change, incorporating it into your routine takes more time and attention, until it stops being new and becomes the norm.

We are also now seeing a shift in how contracts are drawn up, with the entry into force of Royal Decree 723/2026. From now on, the TGSS will be much more demanding about the information an employment contract must include, and of course we are going to incorporate this at Rosclar.

6. What do you value most about working for a company like Rosclar?

A: I have grown up at Rosclar: I joined when I was just 21, so now, at 34, I feel it has meant growth for me both professionally and personally. Luckily, this has been possible thanks to the great family atmosphere at Rosclar and because it is a company where you feel your place and your opinion are taken into account.

I think Rosclar is made by all of us, everyone who is part of it, because we are a real team, and I believe that shows in the way we work and support each other every day.

R: Without in any way taking anything away from any other job or company, I must admit that the moment I arrived at Rosclar I discovered a new working world. Until then, I had always felt like just another number in the company, someone pressured to hit targets. When I arrived at Rosclar, I began to feel valued as a person; I was no longer just another number. Here you are part of a team, we all row together, and whether you lead a team or not, there is always someone willing to help you and teach you what you need.

I also really value that management and everyone with decision-making power always take my opinion and needs into account to make my day-to-day easier, both for me and for my team. They trust that we always look for what is best for the company, and that makes us feel part of something different.

7. Any advice for companies that need a Payroll Service?

R: My advice for companies considering a payroll service is not to see it only as a way to outsource payroll management, but as a way to gain peace of mind, security and efficiency in their day-to-day. Managing payroll and Social Security means keeping up with constantly changing regulations, meeting very specific deadlines and paying attention to countless details that directly affect both the company and its employees. Working with Rosclar means relying on a team of experienced and knowledgeable professionals.

In the end, I think the key is to find a trusted partner that doesn’t just manage payroll, but accompanies you, advises you and provides solutions when you need them.

A: My advice for companies that need a Payroll Service in Spain is to look for someone who is able to respond to their needs and questions and be by their side in the most up-to-date and well-informed way possible, at any time of the year. Someone with the most innovative tools to offer a wide range of services and who, at the same time, offers a close, family-like and trustworthy service. Honestly, I’m sure that they will only find that balance at Rosclar.
